About Friends of the Midland Library
Our Mission
The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; to focus public attention on the Midland Library; to encourage the use of the library’s resources and services; to seek and receive monetary gifts, endowments and bequests to the Midland Branch Library; to support and cooperate with the Cabarrus County Public Library - Midland Branch in developing library services and facilities for the community; and to support the freedom to read, as expressed in American Library Bill of Rights.
Who are the Friends of the Midland Library?
The Friends group funds and supplements the library’s operating budget to provide materials and programs that enhance the library’s service. We serve as “connecting links” between the library and the community, interpreting one to the other. We support quality library service in the community through fundraising, volunteerism and serving as the advocates for the library. We support the policies of the library as adopted by the library board. We provide input into the library’s strategic plan and support its implementation.
Why does the community need a library?
- Everyone may use the library for leisure reading and research.
- Students need access to library services to supplement their school or home libraries.
- Monthly programs are held for all ages.
- Community members can find jobs and access social services.
